You are warmly invited to a talk by Prof. Rich Ivry (University of California, Berkeley), a prominent cognitive neuroscientist whose research bridges motor control, learning, timing, and cognitive functions traditionally linked to the cerebellum.
Talk Title: Probing the Role of the Cerebellum in Sensorimotor Learning and Cognition
Date & Time: Monday, June 23rd at 12:45 PM
Location: Ebbinghaus Room, LIN
Over the past 35 years, research has implicated the human cerebellum in a wide range of functions beyond motor control, including language, working memory, cognitive control, and social cognition. The cerebellum’s relatively uniform structure has led researchers to propose that insights from motor control may generalize to its cognitive functions.
In this talk, Prof. Ivry will discuss: How cerebellar-dependent learning processes support precise motor adaptation, based on sensorimotor tasks. A new hypothesis on the cerebellum’s contribution to cognition, particularly its role in supporting dynamic mental transformations.
We hope to see you there for what promises to be a fascinating presentation.
