Career

Our CRC thrives on the creativity, energy, and enrichment provided by the unique life stories and cultures of our employees. The compatibility of family and career is a central concern for us. In particular, we want to inspire and encourage young female scientists to pursue a career in neuroscience.

Outstanding Women in Neuroscience Award (OWN Award)

Women are still underrepresented in the field of neuroscience. To support young, talented female scientists, the CRC 1436 annually presents the Outstanding Women in Neuroscience (OWN) Award. Through this award, significant achievements by female scientists from our CRC network are highlighted. We hope that this award can contribute to positive change by recognizing and celebrating their achievements. The winners of the award are inspiring role models for future generations of women in science.

Female Scientists Network – Magdeburg
connects Life-Scientists and Alumnae

The Female Scientists Network (FSN) invites all female scientists connected to Magdeburg to join. It does not matter whether Magdeburg was the starting point, an intermediate stop or the goal of your career.

The task of our network is to connect alumni and scientists currently working in Magdeburg, to establish them as role models or mentors for future junior scientists and to highlight various career paths inside and outside academia

Annual Female Career Day

An annual female career day is organized together with the FSN, the GRK 2413, the GRK 2408 and the CBBS graduate program. This event is intended to inform young female scientists about career opportunities and help them to shape their career paths. The focus is not only on reviewing application documents, but also on getting in touch with young PIs, exchanging ideas and strengthening your network in the field of neuroscience.

Office for equal opportunities (BfG)

Establishing equal opportunities for women and men is a major concern in our CRC. Therefore, we would like to draw your attention to the Office for Gender Equality at Otto von Guericke University.

Virtual childcare with Voiio

In the last two years, our everyday life has been turned upside down. Families had/ have a hard time coordinating work and childcare. During this time, we all became more familiar with digital media. Even our youngest children are small professionals. The OvGU is taking advantage of this by offering digital childcare service through a cooperation with the company Voiio. You can conveniently book virtual childcare services for your children at your preferred times via the website. This offer can be used by all CRC members.

This offer can be used by all CRC members. For further questions, please contact the CRC coordination office.

COMETiN program – Coaching, Mentoring and Training

COMETiN is aimed at women who want to shape their professional future actively and aspire to a professorship or other management position in science and research. The program offers young female scientists the opportunity to continuously and sustainably deal with the planning and implementation of their career steps within the framework of various modules, to expand their key academic qualifications, and to establish supportive relationships with other women scientists. The program supports the individual career development of female scientists from the doctoral phase onwards.
