On October 17, 2024, the Women’s Career Days kicked off under the inspiring motto: “Empower, Elevate, Excel! – Your Journey as a Female Scientist”.
The kick-off event took place in the atmospheric setting of the Oli Cinema. Highlights of the evening were the rousing lecture by Dr. Juliane Handschuh on “The Matilda Effect: How women are made invisible in science” and the screening of the film “Hidden Figures”, which highlights the groundbreaking role of women in the history of space travel.
In the discussion that followed, female scientists had the opportunity to share their personal experiences and speak openly about the challenges faced by women in STEM fields. The debate offered not only insights, but also encouragement for future careers.
As part of the Female Career Days 2024, further exciting events will follow in the coming weeks that are specifically aimed at promoting women in science. These include practice-oriented workshops such as “Empowered Self-Presentation for Female Scientists” and “Networking for Career Success”, which provide valuable tools for professional success.
The Women’s Career Days were organized by the DFG-funded SynAGE, RTG 2408 and CRC 1436 networks as well as the LIN Magdeburg, the CoVitality research initiative, the CBBS and the FSN Magdeburg. Together, these institutions are sending out a strong signal for the support and promotion of female scientific careers.
Be part of this inspiring initiative and experience how women in science shape and redefine their career paths!
