Our junior research group leader Dr. Oliver Barnstedt (OvGU Magdeburg & ENI Göttingen) has been awarded an ERC Starting Grant of 1.5 million euros. In his project “Neuronal Dynamics of Learning and Memory in the Mammillary Body” (LearnMamBo) he will investigate the neuronal mechanisms of learning and memory in the mammillary body, a central but so far little-studied brain region. The aim is to gain a deeper understanding of the foundations of memory formation and to develop new approaches for dementia therapies.
