Eine weltweit einzigartige Ultrahochfeld-MRT-Infrastruktur erm\u00f6glicht MRT mit beispielloser Sensitivit\u00e4t und r\u00e4umlicher Aufl\u00f6sung, um insbesondere Diffusions-MRT von der wei\u00dfen auf die graue Substanz zu \u00fcbertragen und die kortikale Mikrostruktur und Neurofl\u00fcssigkeiten zu untersuchen. Detaillierte strukturelle und funktionelle Modellierung von Netzwerken im medialen Temporallappen werden entwickelt und class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">David Berron leitet die Arbeitsgruppe Klinische Kognitive Neurowissenschaften am Deutschen Zentrum f\u00fcr Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen (DZNE). Mit seinem Team untersucht er mittels\u00a0Hirnbildgebung und Biomarkern\u00a0die Auswirkungen neurodegenerativer Erkrankungen auf funktionelle Hirnnetzwerke, insbesondere auf Subregionen im menschlichen medialen Temporallappen. Durch die Kombination von experimentellen L\u00e4ngsschnittstudien und Modellen zur Vorhersage des Krankheitsverlaufs entwickelt er krankheits- und stadien-spezifische Bildgebungsma\u00dfe und kognitive Marker f\u00fcr die Fr\u00fcherkennung der Erkrankung und Monitorierung des Krankheitsverlaufs. Sein Forschungsschwerpunkt liegt auf ultrahochaufl\u00f6senden MRT-Techniken und deren Anwendung auf die Beurteilung von Neurofluids, einschlie\u00dflich Untersuchungen von Blutgef\u00e4\u00dfen, perivaskul\u00e4ren R\u00e4umen und Liquor. Er kann auf einige der bisher ver\u00f6ffentlichten MR-Bilder mit der h\u00f6chsten Aufl\u00f6sung verweisen. Dar\u00fcber hinaus wendet er fortschrittliche Methoden wie das Vessel Distance Mapping an, um Gef\u00e4\u00dfmuster im Verh\u00e4ltnis zu den umgebenden Hirnstrukturen zu quantifizieren und deren Rolle bei der kognitiven Belastbarkeit zu untersuchen. He conducts research in the field of ultra-high field MRI and its neuroscientific applications. A particular aim is to develop methods for high-resolution in vivo imaging of the human brain. This is achieved through fast imaging techniques, methods for prospective correction of movements of the head and methods for geometrically correct imaging of brain structures. Seine Forschung kombiniert neuroimaging-basierte Methoden wie Pattern Similarity Analysis, Representational Similarity Analysis (RSA), Multivoxel Pattern Analysis (MVPA) sowie funktionelle Konnektivit\u00e4tsanalysen. Seine Abschlussarbeit besch\u00e4ftigte sich mit der Gewinnung von Referenzsignalen aus Stereo-Elektroenzephalographie-Daten und wurde von Dr. Marina Ronzhina und Dr. Petr Klime\u0161 betreut. Anschlie\u00dfend absolvierte er sein Masterstudium in Biomedizintechnik unter dem Schwerpunkt Signal- und Bildverarbeitung an der Universit\u00e4t Oulu (Finnland), das er 2020 abschloss. Seine Abschlussarbeit besch\u00e4ftigte sich mit der Vorhersage des Beginns von Kniearthrose anhand neuartiger MRT-Knorpelmerkmale und wurde von Dr. Victor Casula und Ari V\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4l\u00e4 betreut. W\u00e4hrend seines Studiums absolvierte er mehrere Praktika, insbesondere als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institute of Scientific Instruments in Br\u00fcnn (eine \u00fcber dreij\u00e4hrige Zusammenarbeit mit Schwerpunkt auf der Datenverarbeitung von Stereoelektroenzephalographien), als Kodierassistent am Institut f\u00fcr Biomedizintechnik der Universit\u00e4t Oulu (ein dreimonatiges Sommerprojekt zur Optimierung eines automatisierten Jupyter-Notebook-Bewertungssystems) und als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Forschungseinheit f\u00fcr Medizinische Bildgebung derselben Universit\u00e4t zur Erweiterung und Optimierung einer internen Software f\u00fcr die MR-Bildverarbeitung von Knieknorpeln. Wir verbessern zweier Schl\u00fcsseltechniken: funktionelle MRT (fMRI) und diffusionsgewichtete Bildgebung (dMRI).<\/p><br><p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Wir entwickeln fortschrittliche fMRI-Methoden, um eine Aufl\u00f6sung im Submillimeterbereich zu erreichen, eine Detailgenauigkeit, die es uns erm\u00f6glicht, die Hirnaktivit\u00e4t viel feiner als bisher zu visualisieren. Diese verbesserte Aufl\u00f6sung wird es uns erm\u00f6glichen, die funktionelle Organisation des Gehirns mit gr\u00f6\u00dferer Pr\u00e4zision zu untersuchen und aufzuzeigen, wie verschiedene Gehirnregionen w\u00e4hrend kognitiver Aufgaben interagieren und kommunizieren. Diese Neurofluide spielen eine entscheidende Rolle f\u00fcr die Gesundheit des Gehirns und beeinflussen alles von der N\u00e4hrstoffversorgung \u00fcber den Abtransport von Abfallprodukten (sogenannte \u201eBrain Clearance\u201c) bis hin zur kognitiven Funktion.\u00a0 Wir entwickeln und verbessern fortschrittliche Bildgebungsverfahren zur Untersuchung von Neurofluiden auf mesoskopischer Ebene.<\/p><br><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ein Schwerpunkt ist die Anwendung der Intravoxel Incoherent Motion (IVIM) MRI, einer Technik, die es uns erm\u00f6glicht, gleichzeitig die Blutperfusion und die Bewegung der interstitiellen Fl\u00fcssigkeit zu messen, einem potenziellen Biomarker f\u00fcr die \u201cBrain Clearance\u201c.\u00a0 Mit Hilfe unserer leistungsstarken 7T Terra.X Impulse Edition und fortschrittlichen Analysemethoden wollen wir detaillierte Karten dieser Biomarker in noch nie dagewesener Detailgenauigkeit erstellen.<\/p><br><p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Wir erweitern auch die M\u00f6glichkeiten der strukturellen Bildgebung des Gef\u00e4\u00dfsystems des Gehirns.\u00a0 Unsere Ultrahochfeld-MRT erm\u00f6glicht es uns, Arterien und Venen mit au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlicher Aufl\u00f6sung darzustellen. Dazu geh\u00f6rt die Entwicklung standardisierter fMRI-Aufgaben und Analysepipelines f\u00fcr die Untersuchung verschiedener Ged\u00e4chtnistypen, wie Objekt- und Szenenged\u00e4chtnis. Au\u00dferdem stellen wir automatisierte Werkzeuge zur Verf\u00fcgung, um den MTL in seine Unterregionen zu unterteilen, was detaillierte anatomische und funktionelle Studien erm\u00f6glicht. Mit diesen Werkzeugen k\u00f6nnen Forscher das Volumen dieser Unterregionen messen und Ver\u00e4nderungen im Laufe der Zeit verfolgen, was f\u00fcr das Verst\u00e4ndnis der Auswirkungen von Alterung und Krankheit auf den MTL entscheidend ist.<\/p><br><p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Der mediale Temporallappen (MTL) ist eine wichtige Gehirnregion f\u00fcr Ged\u00e4chtnis und Navigation, aber er ist auch anf\u00e4llig f\u00fcr altersbedingte Ver\u00e4nderungen und Krankheiten wie Alzheimer. Unsere Forschung konzentriert sich auf die Entwicklung fortschrittlicher Methoden zur Untersuchung der komplizierten Struktur und Funktion des MTL. Wir entwickeln neue Methoden zur Analyse hochaufl\u00f6sender MRT-Scans, die es uns erm\u00f6glichen, die verschiedenen Unterregionen innerhalb des MTL, einschlie\u00dflich des Hippocampus und der extrahippocampalen Bereiche, genau zu kartieren.<\/p><br><p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">\u00dcber die einfache Volumenmessung hinaus entwickeln wir neue Methoden zur Analyse der feink\u00f6rnigen Struktur des MTL, einschlie\u00dflich einer neuen Methode zur Messung der Dicke des Hippocampus und des entorhinalen Kortex. Damit k\u00f6nnen wir subtilere Ver\u00e4nderungen als bisher untersuchen. Schlie\u00dflich arbeiten wir an der Integration von Daten aus verschiedenen Bildgebungsmodalit\u00e4ten wie strukturellem MRI, Diffusions-MRI, funktionellem MRI und Messungen von Neurofluiden.
